The oven was busy today. Of course, I slave over the oven making scallop potatoes, pork ribblets and custard tarts and Jim comes home from his study group with Burger King... for himself. That's fine. Just more for us. He ended up still eating dinner too but how annoying.

While Jim was away, Liam and I went over his course selections for next year. Which led me to push Liam into looking into his post-secondary education. It's so tough to know what to do. What's right for him? So, it looks like Liam will be taking English (U), 2 programming/computer courses, a creative writing course (U) and then another math. I think Liam wants to go for a computer developer course at a college. Jim wants him to go to university. All of a sudden Jim's a university snob. Like college isn't good enough. I just want Liam to do something he's good at and loves doing. It's going to be a rough year...

I looked into the Maple Syrup festival here. You wanted to go to the closer one, right? They are open March 19-20, 26-27 and Apr 2-3. So, take your pick which weekend you want to come. I will make those custard tarts for you and daddio. They were delicious!!! If I do say so myself.

Since we spoke I'm feeling much better. Just took my vitamin pill now and I think I will clean up the kitchen and then call it an early night. I should start taxes soon too. I don't know why I groan I should be getting money back. It's just such a pain to do and takes away from my fun time! I love my fun time too much. But, I know if I get it done sooner the quicker I can get back to fun times, right? :)

So, the cupboard guy comes tomorrow for you? If it helps we have handles on our drawers and knobs on our cupboards, in silver. Here let me just take a picture for you... hope that helps.

Starting to not get excited about the JA trip as it does sound like a lot of $$$. I really don't know what our money situation will be in 6 months anyways. With Jim out of work and back to school we are managing but anything could come up and tip the balance! So, if you are going to wait till last minute then I will too. hope A. Polly isn't too disappointed.

Ciao for now! xoxox

  1. It's me ... been feeling tired and down these days and haven't been doing too much on the computer ... not sure why I'm feeling this way.

Yes, it would be very annoying when you've slaved over a delicious meal and some people do their own thing ... I told you, he's addicted to subs and burgers. Oh well, his loss and more for you and Liam. How did you actually cook the pork riblets (different from ribs?). I'm actually getting tired of cooking and just want to do really simple meals. Last friday I did a salmon pasta salad with asparagus on the side ... it was light but a nice change.

Thanks for sending a pic of your cupboards ... it helps. Still a little undecided but I do know that I want to use a combination of bars and knobs, just not sure how to split them up. Do you have more knobs than the other kind? The carpenter guy has been running a little late, so I don't think he'll start until the end of this week ... who knows? But he seems quite flexible and willing to make changes for me (without charging extra). Can't believe he's doing alot more than the other quote I got for a 1/3 of the price and he's using real wood (maple painted white).

I know what you mean about not getting excited about Ja. A. Polly called again today ad I think she starting to put a little pressure on me, as the travel agent wants an answer and deposit by the end of february, also if we don't go then they don't 10 or more people to get the deal. I told her that it's just too much for you and I really don't want to make a decision from now. She may have to include herself, Cary and the 2 girls to make up the numbers, but that's their decision. I'm still going to wait ... it would really be great if you and Liam could make it ... so we'll have to see.

In fact, we may not end up going anywhere, not even the european tour ... since I haven't heard from Mary (after I started asking a lot questions and making some suggestions ... hahaha). Well, she wanted to go for 4 weeks to 8 countries ... can you imagine travelling in a van with 9 people for that long ... we would probably kill each other. I really would like to go but with some modifications.

Oh, Dad went to the doctor for a follow-up since he started taking the diabetes and HP medication (really to protect his kidneys) ... now he's on high cholesterol medication ... he's a walking medicine cabinet! He seems to relish in taking all these pills ... I told him that it should be a wake up call for him! Oh well, I can only do so much, he has to be the one to help himself.

Ok, I better go ... look forward to your next blog!

  2. Sorry to hear you are feeling down mama. I don't know what to say. When I feel that way I try to come up with something different to do or something just out of the routine... like go see an afternoon movie matinee, or go to the library... But, I know sometimes you just have to ride it out. You might just feel like this for a few days. Don't let it get to you.

Anything bothering you mom. I know I bitch in my blogs, is there anything on your mind?

Have you been thinking about any new plans for the garden this year?

So, I sent you a pic of my cupboards because it looks like they use handles for all of the drawers and knobs for the cupboards. That's how they mixed it up and it makes sense. I would use handles on some cupboards and knobs on other cupboards. Just decide if you want handles or knobs on drawers and then all drawers will have that and the cupboards will have the other. Clear as mud?

As for Dad's meds. He's basically on a path to a cocktail of drugs. That's what we refer to it as. At his age, it would be difficult to go backwards. But, it would be nice to see him eat smaller portions and in moderation.
