Good morning! Just wanted to post a quick update. I slept through the night without waking up. Surprising, since the fans are so loud. Checked the basement and it looks like it's drying up slowly. Still wet areas. Jim said one of the guys said it would take at least a week to completely dry... ugh. Approximate date of completion is about 6 weeks!!! Oh man.

I went outside to see what Jeremy did with the pipe going outside. I don't think it's good that it's dropping water so close to the house. What do you think? It's under the deck so it's hidden nicely maybe we can feed a hose to my little garden?! That would be cool!! No more watering... like I ever did anyways. Hahaha.

Yesterday I noticed a few cars stopping in front of the house. I know in the summer you'll see cars do that, as I always think they are admiring the house. (I'm so vain.) But, I couldn't figure out why so many were doing it yesterday. As I was leaving the house this morning... I figured why...

  1. The pics are great (in a different way) ... you can really see the situation. The pipe does looks close to the house and you wouldn't want water just pouring straight down by the basement wall. Did you ask him if he's leaving it like that? What size is the pipe (looks like 2 inches)? Talk to the plumber and get more info from him.

Dad thinks that the existing pipe should have a 90 degree elbow with another piece of pipe to bend down and then another 45 degree elbow so that the pipe extends down to the ground at an angle to shoot the water away. Got it? He would have to draw a diagram for you. Then Dad could always attach a 4 inch big "O" tubing to take the water out to the back yard.

Don't even think about how it's going to take ... just get the sump pump working and then figure out the carpeting etc. Luckily, you don't have to use the basement on a daily basis, except for Liam ... but his bedroom is big enough and he'll be ok. Hopefully it will be before you leave for Paris (end of May). Well, we know for sure we won't be watching movies down there when we come for our visit!

Btw, Dad thinks you should ask the plumber guy to install or fix your humidifier since he's working on stuff. He thinks it's very important and makes your heating system more efficient. If you need more info, call and he can explain it to you.

At least it's sunny today and seems to be warming up ... may help to brighten your day. Will they coming to pick up the carpet or do you have to dispose of it yourself (I hope not!!)?

Thanks for keeping us posted ... everything will work out! This is what they call "saving for a rainy day"!! Hopefully the insurance company will cover the bulk of the expense.

Just think of those poor people in Japan and it won't seem so bad. Thinking of you and wish we were closeby to help.
    xoxo
