Oh, this was my big lunch! I have no idea what you call it, the name was in Mexican. But, it was fish on a bed of rice topped with guacamole and shredded nacho chips. It tasted as good as it looks!! And, I ate the whole thing! I really won't need dinner tonight.
I should really be writing food reviews for the local paper, don't you think? Paul is writing a Golf Column in the Peterborough Examiner... I wonder if he could get me in for the Food Column... hmmm. Dinner out every night. Taking pictures of food which I thoroughly enjoy. I can definitely afford to put on some weight. Sounds perfect.
You're probably wondering why I had such a special lunch? It's review time for my staff. I sit with them for about an hour to go over their review and then I take them out for lunch. It's a chance I get to chat with them one on one and personally, not work related. Today was Paul's (not the Paul I mentioned above) and he picked this Mexican restaurant called La Hacienda. I should take you there when you come to visit. Do you and Dad like Mexican? Liam wants to go this weekend. It's authentic Mexican food not that Taco Bell stuff. It was a gooood lunch. He's a great guy and had a great review so it was well deserved. I hit the harder reviews in a couple of weeks. You know who I'm talking about!! And, yes they still get a lunch out :)
Wow! That does look fab (altho I'm not sure I would like the shredded nacho chips). It's funny that I'm not drawn to certain types of ethnic dishes (i.e Indian, Mexican) and I don't know why ... weird. But I think my tastes are maturing as now I think I'm willing to try.
ReplyDeleteI really think my taste buds are changing ... I've always loved meats, but these days I feel that I could actually tolerate a vegetarian (not vegan) diet. In fact, I'm going to try fixing vegetarian (including fish) meals at least a couple times a week. Your father could really benefit from this (but it may be hard for him to take ... can you just hear him complaining?).
Tonight we had baked cajun tilapia (topped with fried tomatoes and onions), mix of russet and sweet potatoes, broccoli and fried plantains ... this is my favourite way to fix a fish dinner. I have to find another easy but delicious way to cook fish to mix it up a little ... let me know if you have any ideas.
Lately, I've been trying to keep up with Dad ... ever since the diabetes session he thinks that he has to snack (their diet plan includes snacks which is a little confusing, but he takes advantage of anything that supports eating) ... anyway I thought I might as well since they claimed it's healthy. Well, I can't do it anymore ... it makes my stomach upset and bloated and I don't really need or even want all that food! Three simple meals a day, no snacking is my style. Dad would eat/graze all day!
I saw your pics of your Wings and Beer lunch ... everyone must love working at BH, if just for the perks! You really should work for a food column ... you do take some great food pics ... well, if you ever leave this job maybe that can be a backup plan! I see that PH got featured alot! ;)
The weather has been so dreary ... can't do anything outside (tired of going shopping) and don't feel like doing anything inside. Altho, I finally dragged myself downstairs and did some paperwork (a year's worth)... felt better. Next will be our taxes.
I hope your shoulder is better. Did you sleep on it? That happens to me sometimes when I sleep alot on one side. Or it could be bursytis (spelling?)? If we had planned it better we could have come out for the March break ... or not since you're coming in next weekend anyway. We probably come out the following Friday and leave on the Tuesday (if that's ok with you guys) ... yes, breakfast on the Monday would be great and we can walk/shop downtown.
I better go and do the dishes. Have a great weekend, relax and rest. Chat to you later.
xoxo
